A Positive outlook on Physical, Mental and spiritual health

Ontario Men's Centre clients playing basketballPrior to coming to Teen Challenge, many of our clients have neglected their health and as a result, the 12-month program gives them the opportunity to restore their physical bodies as well as their mind, soul and spirit.

Sports and recreation programs help develop fitness, a positive use of leisure time, reduction of stress, appreciation for the environment and social and interpersonal skills.

Many of our residents make use of our on-site weight room to keep fit in addition to participating in various sports activities such as badminton, hockey, basketball, soccer, volley ball, and horse shoes. Sometimes clients play a popular local game called “Washers”, and enjoy go-carting or horseback riding. On warm evenings clients occasionally organize a campfire on site.

Monday night is ball hockey night. Six or seven of our residents meet at a local church parking lot to play hockey, blow off steam and have fun. Every other Thursday a local church Men’s group meets at the Teen Challenge residence to play soccer or baseball with those in the program or ice hockey in the winter. At Teen Challenge we believe that taking part in these sports is an important part of the clients’ rehabilitation.
